US Senators Introduce Bill to Give CFTC Exclusive Jurisdiction Over Digital Commodities Spot Market

 U.S. legislators have presented the "Advanced Commodities Consumer Protection Act of 2022" to enable the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) "with elite ward over the computerized products spot market."

U.S. Congresspersons Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), John Boozman (R-AR), Cory Booker (D-NJ), and John Thune (R-SD) presented Wednesday the "Computerized Commodities Consumer Protection Act of 2022."


The bipartisan bill plans to give the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) "new instruments and specialists to direct advanced products," as per the declaration of the bill by the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.


Representative Stabenow remarked:


One of every five Americans have utilized or exchanged computerized resources — yet these business sectors miss the mark on straightforwardness and responsibility that they anticipate from our monetary framework. Over and over again, this seriously jeopardizes Americans' well deserved cash.


"That is the reason we are shutting administrative holes and expecting that these business sectors work under clear standards that safeguard clients and guard our monetary framework," she added.


The outline of the regulation distributed by the panel expresses that the bill "closes administrative holes by requiring all computerized ware stages — including exchanging offices, representatives, vendors, and overseers — to enlist with the CFTC." Congressperson Boozman noted:
